Active Fusion Director Set To Embark on a 6-Hour Cycle To Raise Crucial Funds

Active Fusion Director (and Duathlon Age Group World Champion) Lindsy James, will soon be tackling a 6-hour indoor bike challenge, in order to raise funds for those with special educational needs and disabilities.

Lindsy will be undertaking this feat at the Doncaster Business Showcase on 2nd February, in support of the Unified Leaders Project. The latter is a programme that strives to develop the essential life skills, employability and physical well-being of young people with SEND , by encouraging physical activity.

The inclusive training programme helps young people aged 15 to 18 develop into sports leaders and positive role models for their peers both inside and outside of the classroom. Young Leaders strive to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to enhance physical activity levels in order to better their own health and well-being and that of others.

The Unified Leaders training focuses on developing leadership and employability skills, including critical life skills such as communication and teamwork. Working with the specialist Active Fusion coaching and mentoring team they co-deliver activities to build their confidence and capabilities to lead independently.

Speaking about this, Lindsy said: “I have committed myself to cycle for 6 hours straight at the Doncaster Business Showcase because only 6% of young people with special educational needs and disabilities move into secured employment post education. I'm passionate about raising vital funds to support these young people to be given the pathway into employment that they deserve.”

Connor, who took part in the Unified Leaders programme, was given the opportunity to volunteer with Active Fusion during half-term on their widely popular sports camps. It was an opportunity Conner did not want to pass up. He said: “I’ve enjoyed working for Active Fusion over half-term and meeting some members of the team. I wanted to come and get some experience coaching, so I can go back to Coppice School and start delivering some coaching sessions to different classes there.”

The positive impact that the Unified Leaders Programme has had on young lives so far is truly incredible so there’s no wonder that Lindsy wants to continue supporting Active Fusion’s hard work.

The Doncaster Business Showcase will take place at Doncaster Racecourse on Thursday 2nd February 2023. You can find Lindsy and the Active Fusion team and stand number 46. To learn more about Unified Leaders and how you can support Active Fusion click here.
