Highland Carbon MD, Clarke, Joins Mind Wellbeing’s Board of Directors
Doncaster-based, Mind Wellbeing, announces Mr Richard Clarke as its first Board Member.
According to Clarke, “Mind Wellbeing has a bold vision for inspirational and imaginative initiatives that achieve amazing impacts for a lifetime. I relate very much to their mission as I have grappled with anxiety and depression in my adult life which reached a crescendo twenty years ago. I deeply value the mission of Mind Wellbeing and their aim to benefit children and adults alike, with a major focus here in Doncaster, and their vision to achieve national impacts.”
Mind Wellbeing is addressing the stigma surrounding mental health by turning awareness into tangible action and by reshaping our language. Its mission is to actively change the way we speak about mental health to effectively dismantle the stigma associated with it.
To that effect, it is running a campaign to change the terminology of ‘mental health’ to ‘mind wellbeing’. Founder of Mind Wellbeing, Hannah Dunn, added, “I am grateful to Richard for so supporting my vision and work to prioritise prevention in this arena.”
Richard Clarke is the Owner and Managing Director of the multi award-winning business, Highland Carbon. Doncaster-based Highland Carbon is the UK’s pioneer in the supply of conservation-grade carbon credits. It has won the award for ‘Best UK Carbon Unit Supplier’ for three years in a row.
Clarke continued, “Highland Carbon’s nature restoration projects in the spectacular wilds of Scotland offer public access opportunities for communities and tourists with rambling, horse riding and mountain biking trails. I am a big believer in the nexus between time in nature and mind wellbeing. In Scotland, doctors prescribe time in nature for people living with anxiety or depression.”
Highland Carbon also has two projects in Northern England, with a third on the way in Yorkshire. Prior to founding Doncaster business, Highland Carbon, Richard’s career was entirely in the charity sector. He held senior roles in the charity sector with The Woodland Trust, The Nature Conservancy, Michigan State University and more. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a Master of Science degree specialising in Neuroscience from Michigan State University.
