Wayne Brings Digital Skills to Commonwealth Games Arts Project
South Yorkshire filmmaker and multi-media specialist Wayne Sables is working on an exciting new project, celebrating cultural diversity, as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Coming to Birmingham on July 28, the 22nd iteration of this sporting event will last until August 8. A major element of the celebrations will be a new mass participation piece created by Ace Dance and Music, featuring 15,000 people.
The work, based around the concept of carnival and inspired by the 11 Caribbean countries taking part in the games, will be performed in Birmingham’s Smithfield on July 30.
Multi-award-winner Wayne has been brought onto the project as both digital consultant and filmmaker. A key part of that work will see Wayne filming a series of monologues performed by acclaimed Caribbean-born actor, author and director Tyrone Huggins.
“This is going to be a truly massive global event and one that I am really excited to be a part of,” said Wayne. “We are looking at the ways in which digital technologies can be used to enhance outdoor performances.
“The size and scale of everything that will be happening within this project exceeds anything I have done before and I look forwards to being a part of one of the year’s biggest celebrations of both sport and art.”
