Victoria Cross Trust To Mark Armistice Day at Lakeside Village
The Victoria Cross Trust (VCT) is marking Armistice Day at Lakeside Village for the first time.
VCT will lay wreaths at the start of a newly installed walk at the shopping centre, featuring plaques to commemorate the seven Doncaster Victoria Cross recipients.
The Last Post will be performed by a bugler and will be followed by a one-minute silence at the centre.
Di Mellis, centre manager said: “The Victoria Cross Trust wanted to commemorate Doncaster’s Victoria Cross recipients and we are very proud to host plaques in their names.
“People will be able to walk from Calendar Club at the start of the walk through to Greggs and see the plaques naming George Wyatt, Gilbert Insall, John Harper, Thomas Bryan, William Hackett, Laurence Calvert and Thomas Jackson.
“It is a real honour for us to be able to do this. The VCT will be hosting an Armistice Day event and we ask that customers join us on Friday, November 11, in a one-minute silence as a mark of respect.
“Our thanks go to the VCT for creating this walk and for hosting this special event.”
